++ Halifax - pictures from the hurricane ++
 I got news from long lost friends in Halifax, telling me about a hurricane which went straight over the city, leaving a track of destruction behind. I am pleased to tell you that my friends are all well - which is the most important.
This is what my friend told me on saturday about what happened in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada: In case you didn't hear - we were hit by a class 1 hurricane. The eye of the storm passed directly over Halifax, with tons of destruction in its wake. We've had hundreds of soldiers cleaning up, and power crews in from other provinces and Maine trying to untangle power lines and restore power. Our beautiful city has been hit hard, with thousands of old trees uprooted. The storm hit in the wee hours Monday, and some people are still without power and water. We were lucky, our power came back on Wednesday morning. 
Aren't we lucky we only have once in a while a Fivian or Lothar? Even though in the mountains those storms did quite damage as well. But I wouldn't like to try what it is like to go through a hurricane. posted by Kaspar on www.imho.ch | direkter Link: Montag, Oktober 06, 2003 top
